I spent a full month here.  Chris, Cathy and their dog Auggie gave me a very warm welcome and I immediately felt like a part of the family. I saw Cathy only on my first day but I kept in touch with her during my stay. Chris is very friendly and always down for a light-hearted or deep conversation.

The accommodation is very comfortable. The house is large and beautiful and there is a lot of self-grown food to enjoy. The location is absolutely stunning. It has something magical to it. It’s quite remote but there are a lot of very friendly neighbors around. It’s nice that you can enjoy the peace and quiet, but can also be social if you’d like to.

I was here during autumn so we did harvesting, processed food (Making apple sauce, jam, pickling jalapenos), we stored wood for the winter and worked in the garden. In my last week I also set up a media strategy and updated their website.

I spent my free time hiking on the nearby hills and forests, foraging and preparing mushrooms, baking bread or going for trips around Slovenia. I haven’t been bored for a second.

Thank you Chris, Cathy and Auggie for having me.

"Last Saturday, September 26, 2026, we discovered another special gem in Slovenia.  It is a gem managed by Americans Chriss and Cathy—who are becoming increasingly Slovenian themselves—and who have settled in the idyllic hillside location of Pristava Počakovo, where they run the Pristava Počakovo Cultural Society (KUD). 

Through this society, and on their small estate of venerable age and prestige (once owned by the family of the famous Baron Žiga Zois), they host a variety of cultural events, ranging from art colonies to concerts across all genres. ❤️ Together with their small, enthusiastic team, they realized that ethno-folk music was the perfect fit for the venue; acting on a friend's recommendation, they invited us to perform in their barn—a space we instantly took to heart and dubbed the "Special Barn" (*Poseben pôd*). 

 The energy there is truly unique, stemming undoubtedly from Chriss, who possesses world-class experience in organizing events, particularly musical ones. 💪👍 Proof of this lies in the fact that, despite living and working at Pristava Počakovo for just over five years, he and Cathy have already cemented its reputation as a cult artistic hotspot.  

They approach organization with the highest level of professionalism—and, above all, with incredible heart—allowing them and their excellent team to build a loyal audience that guarantees well-attended events. On that Saturday evening, we brought along some of our own loyal followers—naturally, mostly fans of Iztok Mlakar, but also fans of what we do 😉. 

Chris mentioned that he hadn't previously met about 40% of the audience that packed the charming old barn to the rafters (we set a record for their otherwise intimate, chamber-style "Barn Concerts"). 

All of the above ensured that, together, we could create yet another truly special and unforgettable concert featuring the poetry of Iztok Mlakar.  We floated through the cosmos with the audience (since there were no clouds—in one of the photos, that’s not the sun above the church, but a full moon! 🌕) and had an absolute blast. After the show, Chris shared words with us that we hadn't heard before, despite the regular praise we receive from organizers and audiences: "Quite a few guests told me that this wasn't just the best concert in their barn, but the best of their entire lives!" While we take such enthusiastic comments with a grain of salt, the excitement was clearly immense—not just on stage and among the Pristava Počakovo staff, but throughout the audience as well. In any case, it’s incredibly gratifying. 

Thank you, our dear, loyal audience, for co-creating these unforgettable concerts with us—moments that will be etched in our memories forever, just as they are in the eternal digital record. 😍 ❤️
